Ski Construction - How they are made

Watch a video of how we build our skis »

Raw materials...

For base material we use the same stuff race skis are made of, just thicker. This is the toughest and longest-lasting base material we know of. Our base is now 1.8 mm thick – 45% thicker than the industry average!

Edges take the brunt of any impact, so we use the toughest ones we've found - freeride snowboard edges. They really are as beefy as they come – now 2.5mm thick.

Recycled pine is our choice for core material as it's light and bouncy, giving the skis a nice flex. If we can't get hold of any we use locally grown wood from ecologically managed forests.

Sidewalls and topsheets have to deal with the rigours of mountain weather, so for these we use oak - locally sourced of course.

We offer our skis reinforced with Flax and Bio Resin or traditional Fibreglass and Epoxy resin. Flax and Bio resin is the cutting edge of environmentally responsible construction, with the same weight, strength and performance. Fiberglass and epoxy come with the peace of mind of 5 decades of being tried and tested.
